Some Practical Information

Therapy at your pace. Whether you’re seeking short-term support or a deeper ongoing process, our sessions are structured to meet your needs with clarity and flexibility.

Practical Information About Therapy

Therapy sessions are 50 min long and are held once weekly at an allocated day and time.

In some circumstances, you may have more than one session per week if agreed between you and your therapist.

Therapy can be short-term or ongoing (long-term)

  • Short-term therapy is usually 6-12 sessions and focuses on a specific issue or a problem.
  • On-going or long-term therapy is more flexible in nature and allows for more in-depth work in many areas and aspects of your life, as there isn’t an agreed end date. This allows you to work at your own pace and allows your therapeutic process to unfold naturally.

Exploring the Length and Structure of Your Therapy Journey

During the first session, an assessment takes place to look at the specific issues and goals, where you and your therapist can discuss the most appropriate and beneficial length of therapy. With your therapist’s support, you will determine whether a shorter 6-12 session period or a more extended or ongoing therapy would be most suitable.

During your first session with one of our therapists, you and your therapist will discuss and agree on what length of therapy would be most suited for you and your circumstances.

It is very common for people to embark on a shorter-term therapy process and then decide to continue longer term. On the other hand, when you are in open-ended therapy, you and your therapist can agree to pause or stop at any point that you might need to.

In honour and respect of the therapeutic process and what it entails, we advise to allow a minimum of 2 sessions notice to end. We advise that the longer you have been in therapy, the more time is needed to review and close the process.
